Kevin Max, Editor

An unusual boy, Kevin read The New York Times while growing up in Michigan and Indiana. Like most kids of a literary bent, he pursued philosophy and boxing at the University of Notre Dame. After a wayward spell in the financial markets, trading S&P options in the open outcry market, Kevin returned to graduate school at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

He moved to New York to write for Money magazine and eventually The New York Times, where he covered IPOs for a joint venture with TheStreet.comAfter 9/11, Kevin and his wife, Sarah, left New York for Oregon, where he’s been ever since.

Kevin is an owner and the editor of 1859 Oregon’s Magazine. When he’s not out breeding prized racing pigs or sampling boutique foie gras, he is traveling Oregon, looking for a new adventure.

  • Hi Kevin, remember us? We are the Swiss guys you met at the BMW rally last year. We wonder in which magazine the pics appear which Tim Labarge has taken? We really would love to read the article.
    Kind regards from Switzerland.

  • Monika and Oliver, how are you? Good to hear from you. I'm working on that piece now and it will be in our July/August issue. Are you coming to the U.S. again this summer? I'm headed to somewhat nearby Aix en Provence in August.
