— Miller Hall - World Forestry Center—
Experience nature-inspired artwork in a variety of mediums and interpretations at the 24th annual Sitka Art Invitational on November 4-5. This exhibit and sale, held in Miller Hall at the World Forestry Center, showcases 400+ works of art by more than 140 Northwest artists. This exhibit features a variety of sculpture, ceramics, paintings, metalwork, glass, book arts and prints. Sales revenues are shared 50/50 to provide equal support to the artistic community and to Sitka’s programs.
In an effort to strengthen the ecology aspects of the Art Invitational, artists were invited to find a scientist to collaborate with. Through our residency and workshop programs we have seen that learning about the natural world, and particularly the science that helps explain our environment, can push artistic work in deep and meaningful ways. Our goal for this collaboration is to encourage artists to look at their work and the world through a new lens and then share this perspective with a wider audience.
