Brothers Erik and Scott Wurgler played in various bands, but never thought about being in a band together until they heard their youngest brother, David, sing in a high school jazz concert in Salem, their hometown. “He had some solo, and we were like, ‘Did you know he could sing like that?’” Scott recalled. That impression sparked the idea of My Brothers And I.

The three Wurgler brothers, along with two of their best friends, formed the fresh-faced band, which signed with Portland’s Expunged Records in 2015. Its sound is often called alt-pop or indie-pop, but, truly, it’s inspired by hundreds of different influences. The debut album Don’t Dream Alone features elements of jazz, soul and R&B. David’s voice floats over tight, three-part harmonies in somber songs like “Scars” as well as the upbeat, happy-go-lucky “Maddy Brown.” My Brothers & I has committed to creating an album that could be fully recreated in a live concert. Keep an eye on tour dates to experience its organic sound, synth and auto-tune free.
