Over the past two months, Statehood Media has worked on Healing, a collaborative project that brings together Ashland cellist Daniel Sperry and Oregon Ballet Theatre dancer Xuan Cheng. We started to find a way to express hope during the anxiety surrounding the pandemic. We harnessed the talents of these amazing artists to create something beautiful and healing in a time where we need both.
Daniel Sperry @cellotroubadour, a classically trained cellist who plays in Lithia Park during warm months, created a soaring and complex original score for this piece on both cello and piano. Xuan Cheng @chengxuan119 from Chenzhou, China and a principal ballerina at OBT for the past nine years created the original dance and movement for Healing. Jessica Smith, a recent graduate of the University of Oregon School of Journalism was our lead videographer and editor.
