A family business, Arrowhead Chocolates sold its first chocolate in 2010. Chocolatier and co-owner, Bruce Reininger, makes more than forty chocolate and filling combinations, hand-crafting over 100 pounds of chocolate per week.
Stumptown coffee-based drinks complement the chocolate and help make the business a success in the small town of Joseph, population 1,052. Order a mocha, and you’ll get to lick the spoon that was just dipped in the melted chocolate and drizzled into your drink.
Co-owner and former graphic designer, Erica Houck (Bruce’s daughter) designed the space, set in a historic downtown Joseph storefront. She wanted urban and rural people to feel comfortable— so she blended a rustic and modern aesthetic.
All baked goods (made by Bruce’s wife and co-owner, Wendy Reininger) and chocolates are produced in the small space behind the counter. Customers can see the entire process when they place their order.
No artificial ingredients are used in the chocolates. Reininger infuses teas and other natural ingredients using local spirits from Stein Distillery. The award-winning huckleberry truffle is made with Idaho fruit. The new Douglas fir-tip truffle is made from local needles picked during spring.
Was there several years ago from Houston, Tx. Love it!
Visited Joseph a week ago, what a beautiful place!!!! Loved the coconut truffle and the cocoa with dark chocolate, magical place
Arrowhead truffles are so good that words cannot describe the experience of eating them. So hard to stop at just one or two…
Great place, great owners and friends. Keep it up you Reininger's.
A good reason to go back to Joseph! Great place!
