Musician Spotlight: Radiation City

indie pop, oregon music, radiation city

written by Stirling Myles

When it comes to pop, Radiation City gets it. In their most recent album, Animals in the Median, each song is packed with a combination of clever lyrics from Elisabeth Ellison, catchy guitar melodies from Cameron Spies and lush choruses that keep you wanting more. All components are elegantly wrapped in a timeless cool that is inviting and mysterious at the same time. Rooted in Portland, this quintet has landed such accolades as being named Best New Band in 2012 by Willamette Week and opening for The Flaming Lips.

Currently writing their new album (and recording it in San Francisco with John Vanderslice), this group is making some of the most innovative music around. With a deep well of talent, Radiation City’s music can take surprising turns to keep even its most staunch fans guessing.
