The new Dalles City Cyclery is a full-service, full-time bike shop, offering same-day service and repair of mountain and road bikes, plus new bikes, accessories and gear. The opening of this new shop is perfect, with thousands of cyclists rolling through in September for the start and finish of Cycle Oregon, which will take on “The Magnificent Seven,” the seven Cascade peaks north and south of The Dalles. 

Maryhill Museum of Art

Visit Maryhill Museum of Art, one of the Northwest’s most fascinating cultural destinations. Housed in a spectacular Beaux-Arts mansion on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River Gorge, the museum’s diverse exhibitions include European and American art, an extensive American Indian art collection, sculptures and watercolors by French master Auguste Rodin, artifacts from the palaces of Queen Marie of Romania, changing special exhibitions and much more. A café, sculpture garden, picnic grounds and shop are all on site, and the museum is just steps from neighboring Maryhill Winery.

Oregon Travel: Mt. Hood

On September 28, 1937, an entourage of hundreds of dignitaries and craftsmen assembled on the south flank of Mt. Hood. History was in the making from what had just been made. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his wife rolled up the winding dirt road through the Ponderosa pines, and as the auto swung around the final curve, the massive and new symbol of his administration’s policies came into view.
