Oregon Polo Classic

Oregon Polo Classic
Pairing dining and wine with polo.
written by Julie Lee

Inaugurated last summer, the Oregon Polo Classic is a new spoke in the wheel of the Classic Wines Auction series, a charitable phenomenon that has raised more than $43 million since its inception and $3.5 million last year alone, assisting in the lives of more than 100,000 children and families through nonprofit partners while showcasing Oregon’s bountiful food and wine industry. The second annual event, benefitting Metropolitan Family Services, YWCA Clark County and Albertina Kerr, will be held July 22-23 at Hidden Creek Polo Club in West Linn, with a decadent catered lunch, heralded local wines at tasting stations, a whiskey and cigar lounge and, of course, polo matches. Saturday is family day, with kids welcome to join in the fun; championship Sunday is adults only with champagne flowing and the time-honored champagne divot stomp on the docket. Seersucker suits optional; ginormous fancy derby hats mandatory.
