Identical twin indie-folk songstresses, Katelyn and Laurie Shook, moved to Portland six years ago to write a new chapter. They’ve kept their panhandle Idaho roots and surged into songs that lure the listener into a foot-tapping journey.
The Shook Twins are a matrix of bohemian chic, banjo, acoustic melodious riffs and a strong feminine voice. They credit the American landscape of wide open spaces, rugged terrain, fresh air and water as their muse. They blur musical borders, which transmutes American roots music, folk and pop into an individualistic creation.
“Just being in a city with so much culture has broadened our whole spectrum and pushed the edges of the folk genre we fit into,” Katelyn Shook said.
They continue chipping away at a new studio album and look forward to the imminent release of a collaborative single with producer Brody Bergholz titled “Call Me Out.” A revolution of their harmonies is hitting the road, so look for their tour dates and catch them in a city near you.
They are blazing their own musical journey. This is entertainment you must see live. Saw them in Florence, Oregon in January. Wow. Crazy good.
