First observed in 1908, Mother’s Day is a time honored celebration of mothers and motherhood; a commemoration throughout the world of their influences and devotion. Restaurants will fill with families on Mother’s Day, May 14th to celebrate. Here are some favorite options around the state to memorialize the occasion.
Lark’s Home Kitchen Cuisine
Located at Inn at the Commons, Lark’s is an uber upscale location with a fantastic bar and cool vibe. A special menu for Mother’s Day includes Italian Wedding soup, New Orleans style BBQ shrimp, wasabi vodka oyster shooters, fried chicken with cornmeal waffles and whipped jalapeño butter, and a smoked spring onion hash. This isn’t your typical Mom’s day brunch.

SweetWaters on the River
For a bit of Eugene nostalgia, Valley River Inn offers old school dining, river views and specials all day for mom. Breakfast, brunch and dinner will all be served, and for early birds, the first 100 moms are gifted a rose. All honorees receive a complimentary mimosa or glass of champagne, and the special menu includes everything you can make a station out of including omelets, waffles, seafood, prime rib and turkey. Kids are honored as well with a special buffet, craft table and balloon artist, so mom can relax and have a second mimosa.

10below
Nesting inside the Oxford Hotel in Bend, 10below recently brought on chef Albert Hall who airlifted the restaurant to a Central Oregon destination spot, with locally-sourced fare and imaginative dishes. A Mother’s Day champagne brunch buffet is a great way to check out the restaurant if you’ve yet to go. Free glasses of bubbly for those over 21 (not just moms) will get the party started. A thoughtfully stacked menu of fresh seafood, salads and entrées including braised beef short ribs and broiled halibut follow.

Red Star Tavern
Chef Dolan Lane is assembling a lavish spread for Mother’s Day at Red Star Tavern in downtown Portland, with a throwback theme to the old days of those mammoth hotel buffets. There will be carving stations, omelet stations, house-made sweet and savory pastries, eggs Benedict and chilled seafood, along with some traditional breakfast sides. The menu will highlight local vendors and seasonal ingredients. Priced at $48 for adults and $18 for kids under 12, this is a great place to honor mom and fill up for the day. Lane is a Portland notable, with stints at famed restaurants including Meriwether’s, Clarklewis and Bluehour before taking the reigns as executive chef at Red Star in 2016.

Camp 18 Restaurant
If heading to (or from) the coast is in your Mother’s Day plans, Camp 18 in Seaside is offering a special brunch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On the menu are several entrées including chicken Marsala, lemon peppered salmon, and pepper crusted baron of beef. This is a rustic coastal highway landmark with chandeliers made from elk antlers, beautiful woodwork throughout and a fireplace for warming the soul—a perfect hot spot to celebrate mom.
