Ideas for celebrating Valentine’s Day—Oregon-style.

Try a twist on something you already know how to do. It’s a win-win: a great meal with little risk of culinary disaster in front of your sweetie. For dinner, here’s an updated take on the classic American cheeseburger, featuring roasted garlic and gorgonzola. For dessert, a recipe for a honey and apple cake from Celilo Restaurant and Bar in Hood River provides just the right amount of sweetness.

Take a dip in the warm, relaxing and healing waters of Oregon’s abundant hot springs. With dozens of hot springs around the state, there’s bound to be one close enough for a day trip. Or if the weather is nice enough, try one of Oregon’s hikes that are open for year-round exploring.
