Portlanders love their weekend brunches, with frequenters lining the doors of beloved breakfast spots year-round. Easter Sunday means many favorites are springing special menus for a momentous brunch. Here are some top suggestions; reservations recommended.

Meriwether’s

Meriwether’s is one of the most popular breakfast spots in Portland, with fireplaces providing winter warmth and a bright outdoor patio for spring and summer brunching. Easter at Meriwether’s means a special menu of farm-fresh dishes, with a majority of produce coming directly from owners John and Renee Orlando’s Skyline Farm. Start with a glass of hand-squeezed orange juice and some seasonal fruit sprinkled with Skyline Farm mint, then choose from ten special Easter entrées including duck confit omelet, Dungeness crab club and spring quiche with leeks and Skyline Farm greens.

Mother’s Bistro & Bar

One of Portland’s best-loved breakfast haunts is pulling out the stops for Easter brunch. Along with the ever-popular stuffed frittata, salmon hash and almond poppyseed pancakes, Mother’s Bistro & Bar will be featuring specials like a Lorraine Frittata with bacon, caramelized onions, Emmental cheese and a sour cream drizzle, fresh strawberry Belgian waffles and a new spin on the poppyseed pancakes with lemon. Owner and chef Lisa Schroeder specializes in what she calls “mother food”—lovingly crafted comfort food, and with its bright, homey ambience, this is the perfect spot to celebrate a long-awaited dawn of sunny spring days.

Gracie’s Restaurant

Located in Hotel deLuxe, Gracie’s Restaurant is an esteemed, time-tested standby with smart, sophisticated updates. Originally the Mallory Hotel, this old-Hollywood style hotel has been a gathering hub for generations of Portlanders. While special dishes will be served Easter Sunday, the recommended go-to at Gracie’s is Thieles Original German Pancake, a recipe developed in the 1930’s by chef Henry Thiele at his namesake restaurant on the corner of NW 23rd and Burnside, served at Gracie’s for over two decades and running.

Timberline Lodge

If inspired to head out of town on an Easter Sunday drive, Timberline Lodge is serving up a plate-full of family friendly activities involving Easter bunnies, Easter egg hunts, Easter cookies and a showing of the movie “Hop.” A multi-course prix fix brunch embarks with a Timberline mimosa for adults and starter choices that include Netart oysters on the half shell or radishes with sorrel dip, followed by a head-spinning array of main course options including a slow roasted leg of Oregon lamb, fried chicken with a cornbread waffle or a spring vegetable hash. Save room for the dessert buffet.

Salty’s on the Columbia River

In a nod to tradition, Salty’s scenic waterfront Easter brunch is an experience that has been passed down through the ages, not passed over. For those who love an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet, this is your spot. Dungeness Crab deviled eggs will get the party started, followed by a “seafood galore” buffet of crab, prawns, clams, salmon, oysters and chowder.
