Architect and Astoria native Robert “Jake” Jacob spent 14 years designing and building this 46-room boutique hotel on a 100-year-old pier that was once the site of the Union Fish Cannery (where Jacob’s father worked in the 1970s). The hotel, which opened in 2005, pays tribute to that heritage with rich photographical history of Astoria’s unsung heroes of the gillnet fishing industry.
