Metolius River Cabins
Tucked away in Camp Sherman, the cabins at the Metolius River Resort are ideal for winter hibernating. If you do decide to venture out, both Hoodoo Ski Area and Mt. Bachelor are short drives away. But there’s plenty to explore in Camp Sherman, too, from hiking trails that weave along the river to the Wizard Falls fish hatchery.
Columbia Cliff Villas
The Columbia River Gorge is one of the gems of the Pacific Northwest. At the Columbia Cliff Villas, you get spectacular views of the Gorge as well as beautiful rooms with private fireplaces and soaking tubs. While Hood River is small town, there’s a lot to explore.
Lodges at Cannon Beach
Just take a short walk from your lodge and you’ll hit sand. Take advantage of the coast at the off-season, where fewer people means more beach for you. While the coast has always been a romantic weekend getaway for Oregonians in the summer, one of the state’s best-kept secrets is how wonderful the coast can be in the winter. Everything you could want—delicious restaurants, beautiful art galleries, and stunning views—are within walking distance to the luxurious lodges.
P.S. Here’s our idea of a perfect weekend in Cannon Beach.
Wallowa Lake Lodge
While the Wallowa Lake Lodge is only open in the summer months, the cabins are available year-round. Like other great lodges and cabins in Oregon, the Wallowa Lake Lodge is close to the water, on the shores of Lake Wallowa. Located just a short drive away from Joseph—a town in Eastern Oregon which only has about 1,000 residents—Wallowa Lake is a beautiful area to hide away for a long weekend this winter.
P.S. The story of how Joseph residents are keeping Wallowa Lake Lodge locally owned.
Summer Lake Hot Springs
Natural hot springs abound in Oregon. In Paisley, the Summer Lake Hot Springs offers an escape from even the smaller cities. Small, rustic cabins are scattered around the hot springs, constantly flowing with the natural mineral water that has said to have healing powers.
