Our picks of the best camping spots along Oregon’s coast.

Cape Lookout

Just outside of Tillamook, Cape Lookout State Park is a favorite for Oregonians. There’s a long stretch of sandy beaches to explore, and the campground is nestled in the forest off the shore, offering plenty of space among the trees to set up camp. If you don’t want to sleep in a tent, there are yurts available to rent as well. While you’re there, don’t miss the hiking trail in the park that leads to stunning views of the Pacific. On your way home, be sure to stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory for a quintessential Oregonian treat.

Nehalem Bay

North of Tillamook, Nehalem Bay State Park is a secluded campground and park on a 4-mile long sand spit. There are more than 200 campsites at the park and yurts as well, making it one of the biggest state parks to camp at in Oregon. Nehalem Bay has a 1.8-mile long bike path where you can usually find a good view of the bay and the wildlife that lives in the area. The bay is also easily explored by kayak.

Honeyman

Located on the central part of the coast, Honeyman State Park is a popular coastal destination in Oregon. The park has two miles of sand dunes, as well as a small freshwater lake in the park—take a dip if you’re feeling brave. The park is only a few miles south of Florence, a small town on the coast with a charming old town and restaurants suitable for a foodie’s agenda.

Sunset Bay

Sunset Bay State Park is a popular destination for families because of the cove, which provides mellow waves for wading and swimming. Surrounded by cliffs, the beach feels secluded. The area is also popular with hikers, with trails connecting the camping area and park to other nearby state parks.
