Oregon’s seemingly endless list of destinations offers romantic getaways for all couples. From the bustling streets of Portland to the peaks of the Cascades, couples can find adventure in all corners of Oregon.

Western Oregon

For reclusive comfort seekers, the coast is perfect for a winter getaway. Cuddle up next to a fireplace with a glass of wine and watch storms blow in from your oceanfront condo. Hamlets such as Depoe Bay, Cannon Beach and Pacific City can provide the perfect setting for a true coast experience.

Or drive into the heart of the Willamette Valley and warm up with the best Pinot noirs. Start in Dundee, where you can visit estate wineries such as Archery Summit, Domaine Drouhin and Domaine Serene.

Head west out of Newberg to hit a string of wineries such as Big Table Farms or Bergström. For dinner, look to regional favorites the Dundee Bistro or The Painted Lady Restaurant in Newberg.

Craving culture? Then it’s off to Ashland‘s Oregon Shakespeare Festival for world-class theater. Stroll through downtown to see a mix of sixteenth century England and twentieth century hippie eclectism. If you’re looking for arts and entertainment, Ashland is your destination.

For an urban experience, head to Portland. It’s here that romance takes the shape of the Portland Art Museum, a stroll among boutiques in Northwest Portland, music on Mississippi Avenue or Alberta Street and a bite in the Pearl District during its First Thursday art walks. This town is always hopping.

Northern and Central Oregon

Adrenaline junkies? The Columbia River Gorge is perfect for kiteboarders and windsurfers. If you want to try it yourself, rent a board and take a lesson. Hood River is also one of Oregon’s burgeoning beer and wine meccas.

If you prefer water in a powdery form, make your way over to Mt. Hood or Bend’s Mt. Bachelor for world-class skiing and snowboarding. Get up close and personal by staying at Timberline Lodge in Government Camp or a Lavabelles cottage in Bend. Don’t despair if you’re in Eastern or Southern Oregon, there are mountains to ski there as well. Central Oregon’s high desert beckons mountain bikersfly-fishermen and Cascade hikers in the warmer months. Any of these options nicely pairs with a romantic dinner in downtown Bend.
