Stumped on where to take your sweetie for Valentine’s Day? We’ve got some romantic suggestions for those of you who will be celebrating city-style in the Portland Metro area.

Acadia Bistro

Candlelight and coziness is the theme at Acadia, creating the ultimate date night, NoLa style. That is to say, New Orleans, Louisiana style. A four-course dinner is on deck, with Southern specialty dishes such as Louisiana BBQ shrimp, Acadia’s black roux gumbo with house andouille, and blackened Louisiana seabream with blue crab ceviche.

Served from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. for $70 per person.

Gilda’s Italian Restaurant

Gilda’s is one of those “old school” restaurants that is steeped in nostalgia and charm. Chef Marco lovingly whips up recipes from his grandma Gilda, who took as much pleasure in feeding family, friends and neighbors as Marco does. Everything on the menu is authentic and delicious, and we highly recommend pairing the Le Gilda, house limoncello and St. Germaine topped with prosecco, with a Caesar salad and the tagliatelle with lobster for this special night.

Laurelhurst Market

One of Bon Appetit’s picks for top ten restaurants a handful of years back, this steakhouse-inspired brasserie is consistently perfect in delivering a trifecta of exquisite food, hipster vibe and crazy good craft cocktails. If you are craving a steak you can eat with a fork, delivering bites to your from date across the table, this is your sweet spot.

3 Doors Down Cafe & Lounge

Whether it’s Valentine’s Day or not, 3 Doors Down is one of the hands-down most romantic joints in town. Candlelight casts a mixture of shadows on tables tucked in corners, and the dishes themselves are amorous. Suggested offerings include the parsnip, grilled endive, and parmesan risotto, the plum tomatoes with vodka cream and sweet Italian sausage with tortiglione. Plates are perfect for sharing with your dearest.

Serratto

In terms of the Portland restaurant scene, Serratto has been a reliable mainstay, and for good reason. The elegance and natural mojo enchants and inspires romance and semi-regular tableside engagements. The location comes with a valet parking option for those looking to go the extra mile in courtship, and the food is innovative and changes seasonally, evading menu tedium. A bottle from the expansive wine list paired with seared sea scallops or painted hills beef tenderloin will ensure a flawless Valentine’s affair.

Gilda's has become my wife's and mine Valentine's Day tradition. The ambiance and decor set the mood perfectly. And you're not going to find more authentic Italian food anywhere around Portland. Chef Marco does it right..My wife and I look forward to many more years of making Gilda's our favorite place to eat.
