Fried Egg I’m In Love is nothing short of egg-cellent. This new cart (in business since April 1st) has rocked Portland’s food cart culture, giving it a new wave of creativity and passion. While most carts around town specialize in lunch dishes, Fried Egg I’m In Love hits the spot for breakfast lovers. Whether your breakfast is at 8:30 a.m. or 2 p.m., these musically inspired sandwiches will start your day off right with a chuckle and a satisfied stomach.
Jace and Ryan, band mates and egg sandwich connoisseurs, carefully create their sandwiches from the inspiration of music, laughter and quality ingredients (bonus: they buy locally, offer organic and free range eggs and have gluten free bread options). They say it all started with the Yolko Ono ($6.00), their signature sandwich. Inside perfectly golden sourdough toast rests a fried egg with their magic egg dust, a hand-pressed seasoned sausage patty and a layer of pesto and parmesan cheese—spread on both pieces of toast. From the first bite, the yolk oozes through the sandwich and adds a tasty, though messy, reminder that the egg is the star of the show.
For a vegan option, try the Back in Black Bean ($5.00) with black beans simmered with veggies and spices, served with avocado and green onion. Be sure to watch out for specials like the Sriracha Mix-a-Lot: a fried egg sandwich with ham, tomato, avocado, havarti cheese and an added kick of Sriracha hot sauce ($7.50). And of course, be a good Portlander and get a cup of Stumptown coffee ($1.50).
With picnic tables and a few lawn chairs, this bright yellow cart on the corner of 32nd and Hawthorne is a comfortable place to start off the day. With its popularity growing fast, in no time they’ll be changing Portlandia’s famous phrase to “put an egg on it!” Keep up with specials and new sandwich concoctions by checking out their social media outlets.

Great review. I've interested in this place for a while and your review sealed the deal. You had me at pesto. Can't wait to taste for myself.
Great review. I want to go try it now!
Thanks for this review. I live in the neighborhood, often walk by this cart on the weekend, and have wondered about the food. Looks like it's definitely worth checking out.
Hey I'll have to check out this place. Funny thing is the other day I decided that I was gunna explore Portland before I go and eat at a new place everyday and blog about it using photos. Maybe we can team up or something! =) Great blog post!
Redreshing review of the food cart scene! Food descriptions are clear and give me the urge to give it a try. Though black beans don't like me, the other descriptions leave me reedy to go!
Thanks for this, sincerely Lorraine R
