A Luxury Wine Country Getaway

written by Julie Lee | photos by Lindsay Van Bramer

The minute Andy Lytle saw it, he knew the property was special. Walking Jackson Family’s Zena Crown vineyard with wine distributors, he looked across the way, opining, “That’s a beautiful piece of property.” Vineyard manager Ken Kupperman responded, “It’s for sale.” The journey for AtTheJoy commenced. A luxury wine country retreat, AtTheJoy, is set atop a 500-foot elevation in the heart of the Willamette Valley, idyllic for an intimate getaway, private family gathering or corporate off-site retreats. Surrounding the property is a newly planted 30-acre vineyard, Anahata. Each room has its own sweeping view of the valley or vineyard with modern decor. A short drive off I-5 from any direction, this Eola-Amity Hills estate, with its panoramic views of the Van Duzer Corridor and Temperance Hill, is serenity defined.

Details

What’s in a name? Lytle, division vice president for Jackson Family Wines, said, “All of my LLCs are called AtThe something. With my work [as board chair] for Children’s Cancer Association and my love for wine, AtTheJoy seemed like the perfect name.” Anahata is Sanskrit for heart chakra, and each of nine named on-site vineyard blocks translates to “joy” in a different language except one, “SMP”, named for family member Sister Mary Paule, who served South African children for more than 60 years by building orphanages and schools.

Rooms

The sleekly furnished 6,500-square-foot estate comfortably sleeps fourteen, with a spacious master king suite and spa-inspired en-suite, two queen bedrooms with shared bath, and a family friendly downstairs, a game room with twin beds, a pull-out couch and a separate full bath. For corporate retreats, the downstairs area also has a private conference room that seats up to eight people. Three attached 550-square-foot king bungalow suites provide individual poolside retreats with elegant furnishings, walk-in closets, and private showers and bathrooms.

Outdoor Living

AtTheJoy is the apex of outdoor living, with the main house and each bungalow surrounding a spectacular lounge area complete with swimming pool, fire pit and hot tub. The patio is encompassed by acres of vineyard, creating a sublime, relaxed setting.

Amenities

The main house is equipped with an envy inspiring chef’s kitchen and state-of-the-art electronics to pipe in music indoors or out. Gaming stations entertain kids (or adults). Pool and ping-pong included. Furry, four-legged friends are welcome.
