World of Speed will be open Veterans Day, November 11. We are proud to offer free admission to United States Veterans and their immediate family. Thank you for your service.
Join us for very special Veterans Day reception as we honor and salute members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families for the sacrifices they have made to preserve our freedom. This occasion also gives us an opportunity to acknowledge and introduce two special guests of the Museum. Come meet and visit with veterans E.E. “Van” Valkenberg of Vancouver, Washington and Joe Lillibridge of Dallas, Oregon.
Van, as he prefers to be called, served in a Naval Air Rescue Squadron in WWII. He also served as Chief Communicator on Air Force One serving six presidents, he has many stories to tell and has over 21,000 hours of flying time. Van is also a Sky Diver with 2,014 jumps including 9 above 40,000 feet.
Staff Sargent Joe Lillibridge, served a total of 12 years, 3 of those years in Iraq and 1 in Afghanistan. Joe has been awarded 3 Conduct Medals, A Combat Action Badge and a Purple Heart.
Another special guest (World of Speed style) – the American Tribute 2005 Mustang GT. This car pays tribute to all American heroes, honoring their service and sacrifice through the patriotic exterior and customized extras on the car.
Taya Kyle, widow of U.S. Navy Seal Chris Kyle and military veteran’s family activist, wrote a special note to veterans in Chris’s memory on the cold air intake of the car. This will be pulled out and put on display for all to read her incredible message.
Our special guests arrive at 10am and coffee and donuts will be provided for all.
