Monica Huggett leads a holiday program of Vivaldi works performed entirely by women. Vivaldi was hired in 1703 by the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice, first as a violin teacher and then later as maestro de’ concerti. Iconic works like his Gloria and Magnifcat (now usually sung by mixed voiced choirs) were originally written for his own all-female ensemble singing even the lowest parts.
