Claudio Monteverdi’s Orfeo is considered the first great opera and is still performed regularly in opera houses all over the world. It is rich with dramatic word painting, narrative urgency, exotic instrumentation, and exquisite writing for vocal ensemble. GRAMMY winner Stephen Stubbs leads his ensemble, Pacific MusicWorks, in a concert version featuring Colin Balzer in the title role.
