Mingle and Muse with Rebecca Clarren

08/12/2019

4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Sitka Center for Art and Ecology

The Mingle and Muse lecture series is a chance for visitors to explore the Sitka Center campus, hear a presentation from an artist, writer or scientist and engage with creative people over light snacks. This event is free, open to the public and a great opportunity to visit the Sitka Center for the first time. Mingling at 4:30 pm, presentations start at 5pm.

On August 12th, award-winning author Rebecca Clarren will talk about her work. Rebecca has been writing about the American West for more than twenty years. Her journalism, for which she has won the Hillman Prize, and an Alicia Patterson fellowship, has been published in The Nation, High Country News, Orion and Salon.com. Her novel KICKDOWN, the story of two sisters’ struggle to save their family’s cattle ranch in rural Colorado, was shortlisted for the PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction; The Washington Post called it, “an impressive debut.” Born in the Northwest, Clarren lives in Portland with her husband and two young sons.
