Sunset on Upper Klamath Lake by Jordan Jones During all the Forest fires in 2013, we finally had a break in the heavy smoke. A few of us drove up onto Hagelstein Ridge to photograph the lake, and were greeted with this great scene. The Smoke was just starting to come back in hanging low along the lake while the sun shone through some clouds. Of course the ever present Midges are included in the photograph.

This photo was taken in the Newberry Volcano in the Deschutes National Forest. The setting for this photo submitted by Judy O’Regan of Sandy reflects some solid effort. She and her daughter, Virginia O’Regan, and friend Lydia Hachmuth of Portland built a hot tub of sorts at Paulina Lake, stacking logs around the bubbling hot springs surrounded by early snow last fall.
